New pacenotes, a good test and recce Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson wants to take Petter Solbergs third place in the overall standings.
It’s only three rallies left of the 2012 season in the world championship, a season where the duo had to cancel two rounds – in Monte Carlo and New Zealand. Still Østberg is fourth overall and ready to fight hard for Petter Solbergs third place, who’s only five points ahead of him.
– We’re ready to fight for Petters place, and if we’re going to that we have to keep up the pace and the good driving that we’ve shown earlier this season and hopefully do it even better, Østberg says.
Rallye de France – Alsace, a 405 kilometre long rally, is driven on asphalt and Østberg knows almost all of the stages.
– We decided to write new pacenotes even though it takes a little more effort from us but that was what worked out best in Wales, Østberg says.
This years round in Deutschland was Østbergs first on asphalt where he kept a great pace especially on the last day.
– That’s where we want to pick up. If we do so, I think we have a great chance to end up on the podium.
Before starting Rallye de France – Alsace the overall standing looks like this:
Sébastien Loeb (219)
Mikko Hirvonen (158)
Petter Solberg (119)
Mads Østberg (114)
Jari-Matti Latvala (113)
This is Solberg, Østberg and Latvala results from the three remaining rounds in the world championship last year:
Solberg: Excluded from Rally France, third in Italy and crashed in Spain and couldn’t continue.
Østberg: Seventh in France, five in Italy and six in Spain.
Latvala: fourth in France, 18th in Italy and third in Spain.
